This type of essay asks you to discuss the positive and negative sides of a topic.

Structure:

• Introduction: Paraphrase the question + briefly mention the advantages and disadvantages.
• Body 1 – Advantages: Explain 2 main advantages + examples.
• Body 2 – Disadvantages: Explain 2 main disadvantages + examples.
• Conclusion: Summarise both sides and, if asked, give your opinion.

Easy formula:
Introduction → Advantages → Disadvantages → Conclusion
